Banned Books Week 2012

Closing Books Shuts Out Ideas
That's why Satilla Regional Library celebrates Banned Books Week. Everything from the Bible to Harry Potter has been challenged or outright banned at libraries and schools in our country. Your right to read what you wish is protected by the First Amendment. We support your right to exercise that freedom.

As a part of Banned Books Week's 30th Anniversary, patrons at the Satilla Regional Library have the option to participate in the American Library Association's (ALA) Virtual Read-Out: a chance to be recorded reading an excerpt from your favorite banned book. Video recordings will be uploaded to the ALA's YouTube channel.

Monday, October 1st @ 5:00pm at the Douglas Library
Wednesday, October 3rd @ 3:30pm at the Pearson Library
